Leonardo DiCaprio จัดตั้งกองทุน America’s Food Fund ช่วยวิกฤติโควิด-19 ระดมทุนแล้วกว่า 420 ล้านบาท

พระเอกขวัญใจหลายคนอย่าง ลีโอนาร์โด ดิคาปริโอ ได้เข้ามาเป็นอีกหนึ่งพลังสำคัญช่วงวิกฤตโควิด-19 หลังเขาได้จัดตั้งกองทุนชื่อ America’s Food Fund ร่วมกับ ลอเรนซ์ พาวเวลล์ จ็อบส์ ภรรยาของ สตีฟ จ็อบส์, บริษ้ท Apple และ Ford Foundation ซึ่งกองทุนนี้จะช่วยระดมทุนเพื่อนำเงินไปมอบให้กับ World Central Kitchen และ Feeding America ในการหาอาหารให้คนที่ขาดแคลน ไม่ว่าจะเป็นครอบครัวที่มีรายได้ต่ำ ผู้สูงอายุที่อยู่ในกลุ่มเสี่ยง และเด็กที่ต้องพึ่งพาอาหารที่โรงเรียน แต่ไม่สามารถทำได้ในช่วงนี้เพราะต้องกักตัวอยู่ที่บ้าน

สำหรับกองทุน America’s Food Fund ได้เปิดรับบริจาคแล้วผ่านเว็บไซต์ Go Fund Me ที่ตั้งเป้าไว้ที่ 15 ล้านดอลลาร์ โดยก่อนที่จะเปิดบริจาคก็ระดมทุนตั้งต้นไปแล้วกว่า 12 ล้านดอลลาร์ หรือราว 420 ล้านบาท โดยลีโอนาร์โดกับลอเรนซ์บริจาคร่วมกัน 5 ล้านดอลลาร์, Apple บริจาค 5 ล้านดอลลาร์, Ford Foundation 1 ล้านดอลลาร์ และโอปราห์ วินฟรีย์ อีก 1 ล้านดอลลาร์ ซึ่งโอปราห์ก็เตรียมบริจาคเงินเพิ่มอีกกว่า 9 ล้านดอลลาร์ให้กองทุนอื่นๆ ทั่วอเมริกา

ก่อนหน้านี้ลีโอนาร์โดและลอเรนซ์ที่เป็นผู้ก่อตั้งองค์กร Emerson Collective ได้จับมือเปิดมูลนิธิแบบไม่แสวงหากำไรชื่อ Earth Alliance เมื่อปีก่อน เพื่อโฟกัสเรื่องการเปลี่ยนแปลงของสภาพภูมิอากาศ (Climate Change) ซึ่งเป็นสิ่งหนึ่งที่นักแสดงวัย 45 ปีเป็นกระบอกเสียงสำคัญของฮอลลีวูดมายาวนาน
