สวัสดีครับทุกคน! เราห่างกันมาสักพัก ก่อนอื่นเลยผมต้องขออภัยที่บันทึกการแข่งขันของผมมาช้าไปสักหน่อย ผมต้องผ่านการแข่งขันและการเดินทาง แบบไม่มีเวลาหยุดพักในช่วงที่ผ่านมา แล้วพวกคุณทุกคนเป็นอย่างไรบ้างครับ

ตอนนี้ผมเพิ่งเดินทางมาถึงบาร์เซโลนา ซึ่งจะมีการแข่งขันสแปนิชกรังด์ปรีซ์ นี่จะเป็นการแข่งขันเรซที่ 3 ติดต่อกัน และเราก็ทำผลงานได้ดีอย่างต่อเนื่องนับตั้งแต่ที่ผมเขียนบันทึกนักแข่งครั้งล่าสุด

เดือนที่ผ่านมาในไมอามี เราจบท็อป 5 ซึ่งเราทำได้อีกครั้งใน 2 สัปดาห์ต่อมาที่อิโมลา ส่วนสัปดาห์ที่ผ่านมาที่โมนาโก เราจบการแข่งขันได้ใน 10 อันดับแรก และเก็บคะแนนเพิ่มได้อีก ทำให้ทีม Atlassian Williams Racing ของผม ยังคงรั้งอันดับที่ 5 ในตารางประเภททีมผู้ผลิต เป็นสิ่งที่น่ายินดีมาก Cheers!

นอกสนามแข่งผมมีโอกาสได้สนุกกับการออกแบบหมวกกันน็อกสำหรับใช้แข่งขันในรูปแบบต่างๆ แบบที่ไมอามีกรังด์ปรีซ์ ผมแข่งด้วยหมวกสีส้ม เนื่องจากส้มเป็นผลไม้ประจำรัฐฟลอริดา จะมีนักแข่งฟอร์มูลาวันสักกี่คนกันที่แข่งโดยเหมือนมีส้มอยู่บนหัว? 😄 ผมยังได้ประกาศพาร์ตเนอร์ส่วนตัวรายใหม่อย่างหูฟัง Beats ดังนั้นผมคิดว่าน่าจะเป็นสิ่งที่ดีที่ผมจะได้ออกแบบหมวกที่เข้ากับหูฟังได้ คุณคิดอย่างไรกันบ้าง? แน่นอนว่าเราต้องทำหมวกขนาดเล็ก และขนาดของมันก็ (เกือบ) เท่ากับผลส้มจริงๆ เลย

หลังจบไมอามี เราได้แข่งขันในยุโรปสนามแรกที่อิตาลี ผมเลยพาสมาชิกในครอบครัวของผมมาด้วย ซึ่งเป็นสิ่งที่ดีมาก เพราะผมไม่ได้พบเจอพวกเขาเลย เนื่องจากการเดินทางอย่างต่อเนื่อง

Looky หนึ่งในแมวของเราได้จากพวกเราไป และ ครอบครัวของผมก็กำลังใช้เวลารับมือกับสิ่งที่เกิดขึ้น ดังนั้นการได้พาพวกเขามาที่อิตาลี เป็นช่วงเวลาที่ดีมากสำหรับเรา น้องสาวของผมคนหนึ่งไม่สามารถมาได้ เนื่องจากเธอกลับไปบ้านที่ประเทศไทย เพื่อไปพบปู่กับย่าของผม ผมขอให้เธอนำพริกกลับมาด้วย เพราะของที่ผมมี ถึงเวลาต้องเติมสต็อกแล้ว!

ข้ามมาถึงโมนาโกเมื่อสัปดาห์ที่ผ่านมา นักแข่งทุกคนได้รับเชิญให้ไปดูภาพยนตร์ F1 ที่นำแสดงโดย แบรด พิตต์ นักแข่งบางคนพาแฟนสาวไปด้วย แต่ ลิลี่ ติดการแข่งขันที่เม็กซิโก ดังนั้นคนที่ไปกับผมในค่ำคืนนั้นคือ Jacques ผู้จัดการของผมเอง ผมจำไม่ได้ว่าเข้าโรงหนังครั้งสุดท้ายเมื่อไหร่ และ ที่สำคัญคือมันแปลกมากที่เราไปพร้อมกับนักแข่งคนอื่นๆ แล้วเราต้องนั่งเงียบๆ ดูหนังด้วยกัน ผมอยากให้ทุกคนได้ดูหนังเรื่องนี้ ผมไม่ได้รับอนุญาตให้เปิดเผยอะไรออกไป แต่ผมอยากรู้ว่าพวกคุณทุกคนคิดอย่างไรกับเกี่ยวกับหนังเรื่องนี้ที่จะเข้าฉายในเดือนหน้า

เป็นเวลานานแล้วที่ผมไม่ได้กลับอพาร์ตเมนต์ที่โมนาโก และเมื่อผมไปถึงที่นั่นก็มีของขวัญสุดพิเศษรอผมอยู่ จริงๆ แล้วมันเป็นของขวัญจากตัวผมเอง จะนับว่าเป็นอุปกรณ์ฝึกซ้อมก็ได้ เพราะมันคือ Simulator Rig (ระบบจำลองขับ) ที่ผมสามารถใช้ฝึกซ้อมได้ในโลกจำลอง หนึ่งในเพื่อนที่ดีของผมได้ช่วยกำหนดสเปกและสร้างสิ่งนี้ขึ้นมา ทำให้เรามีอุปกรณ์ที่ดีที่สุด ทั้งคันเร่ง และ พวงมาลัย นอกจากนี้ยังมีโลโก้ AA23 ที่สวยงามมาก ถ้าผมมีโอกาสกลับบ้านเร็วๆ นี้ ผมอาจจะลองสตรีมผ่าน Twitch ดีไหมครับ?

มาที่วันนี้และในปัจจุบัน ผมกำลังเตรียมพร้อมสำหรับเรซที่บาร์เซโลนาสุดสัปดาห์นี้ และผมจะไม่มี 3 อย่างนี้ อย่างแรกคือ แพทริก โค้ชด้าน Performance ของผม ที่พวกคุณหลายคนรู้จักดี เนื่องจากเขาเดินทางไปเยี่ยมครอบครัวที่ไอร์แลนด์ บ้านเกิดของเขา ลึกๆ แล้วผมคิดว่าเขาแค่พยายามหลีกเลี่ยงไม่ให้เคราของเขาถูกย้อมสีหลังจากที่เขาแพ้การเดิมพันกับผมที่ไมอามี (แต่ไม่ต้องห่วงครับ เขาไม่รอดแน่) ดังนั้นสัปดาห์นี้ ผมจึงมีโค้ชสำรองชื่อโนเอล ซึ่งเคยทำงานร่วมกับยูกิซัง (ยูกิ สึโนดะ) เพื่อนที่ดีอีกคนของผม

อย่างที่สอง ลุค วิศวกรของผมจะพลาดเรซนี้เหมือนกัน และ แอนดรูว์หรือที่เราเรียกเขากันว่า Murdo จะทำหน้าที่แทน เขาเป็นคนไอริช ดังนั้นเขาก็จะมาทำหน้าที่แทน แพทริก ชาวไอริชอีกคนที่ทิ้งช่องว่างในใจของพวกเราในสัปดาห์นี้!

และสาม ในรอบ FP1 ผมจะงดซ้อมรอบแรกสัปดาห์นี้ เพื่อให้ วิคเตอร์ มาร์ตินส์ นักแข่งจากอะคาเดมีของ Williams ได้หาประสบการณ์มากขึ้น

ดังนั้นทุกอย่างในสัปดาห์นี้จะมีสิ่งที่แตกต่างออกไปบ้าง แต่ผมก็ตื่นเต้นสำหรับสุดสัปดาห์นี้ เรากำลังอยู่ในช่วงเวลาที่ดี มีโมเมนตัมที่ดีในฤดูกาลนี้ที่เราอยู่ในจุดที่แข็งแกร่งที่สุดในช่วงเวลาตลอดสิบปีที่ผ่านมาของทีม Williams ดังนั้นเราจึงต้องต่อยอดจากความสำเร็จนี้

อย่าลืมคำแนะนำเกี่ยวกับสีที่เราควรจะย้อมเคราของแพทริกด้วยนะครับ และ อยากขอบคุณทุกคนอีกครั้งสำหรับการสนับสนุนที่ผ่านมา เรารับรู้ได้ถึงทุกกำลังใจจริงๆ

Sawasdee kup everybody. It’s been a while! I am sorry I am late with this journal, we have been racing and Kui travelling non-stop recently. How are you all doing?

I have just touched down in Barcelona for this week’s Spanish Grand Prix. This is the third race in consecutive weeks, and we’ve been on a roll of great results since my last journal. Last month in Miami, we scored a top five finish, which we repeated two weeks later in Imola. Last week in Monaco, we finished inside the top 10, scoring more points and my team Atlassian Williams Racing is still fifth in the Championship. Cheers to that!

Off track, I have been having fun playing around with different designs for my race helmet. For the Miami GP, I raced with an orange on my head, as oranges are the fruit of the Florida state. How many Formula 1 drivers have raced with an orange on their head? 😄. I also announced a new personal partnership with Beats headphones, so I thought it would be cool to match the helmet design on the headphones. What do you think? We obviously also had to get mini helmets made and their size is (almost) to scale of an actual orange!

After Miami, we had the first race of the European season in Italy, so I brought some of my family out with me which was nice, as I haven’t seen much of them due to all the travel. One of our pets, Looky, also passed away recently so my family have been getting over that, so bringing them out to Italy was a nice distraction. One of my sisters couldn’t make it though as she’s gone home to Thailand to see my grandparents. I’ve asked her to bring some spices back with her so I can stock up my supplies!

Fast forward to last week in Monaco and the drivers were invited to go and watch the new F1 movie with Brad Pitt. Some drivers took their girlfriends, but Lily was away competing in Mexico so my plus one for the night was my manager Jacques. I cannot remember the last time I went to a cinema, and it was weird to go with all the other drivers and sit quietly watching a film together. I can’t wait for you to see the film, I am not allowed to give anything away, but I want to know what you think when it comes out next month!

It’s the first time in quite a while I’ve been back home in my Monaco apartment, and when I got there I had an amazing present waiting for me. It’s a present to myself really, it’s almost a training tool, it’s my new simulator rig that I can practice racing on in the virtual world. One of my good friends helped me spec and build the rig so it has the best equipment, like pedals and steering wheel. It’s also branded with my AA23 logo which is cool. Maybe if I get time at home soon, I’ll do some streaming on Twitch?

Back to today, and the present. I am getting ready for the race in Barcelona this weekend and I am missing three things. 1: My performance coach Patrick, who most of you will know and recognise, is visiting family back in Ireland where he’s from. Deep down I think Patrick is just trying to avoid his beard getting bleached after he lost our bet in Miami (don’t worry, he won’t get away with it). So, this weekend I have a stand-in coach, Noel, who used to work with another good friend of mine, Yuki san! 2: My performance engineer Luke is also missing this race and so covering for him is Andrew, or ‘Murdo’ as we all call him. He happens to be Irish, so he’s filling in the Irish void that Patrick leaves this weekend! 3: FP1! I am sitting out the first practice session this weekend so that one of the rookie drivers in the Williams Academy, Victor Martins, can gain more experience.

So, all in all, it’s a slightly different weekend coming up but I am looking forward to it. We have a great run of momentum at the moment with this season start being the strongest in almost a decade for Williams, so we must build on it!
