The Royal Thai Armed Forces has released a detailed timeline of yesterday’s border clashes with Cambodia, indicating that Cambodian forces initiated attacks in the early morning with rockets and artillery, resulting in 14 fatalities.

July 25, 2025 – The Royal Thai Armed Forces has released a detailed timeline of yesterday’s border clashes with Cambodia, indicating that Cambodian forces initiated attacks in the early morning with rockets and artillery, resulting in 14 fatalities.

 

According to a summary report from the Department of Border Affairs, Major General Witthaya Laithomya, spokesperson for the Royal Thai Armed Forces Headquarters, stated that on July 24, 2025, clashes occurred at multiple points along the border between Thai and Cambodian forces. These engagements led to casualties among both civilians and military personnel, as well as damage to civilian property.

 

Key events unfolded as follows:

 

7:45 AM: Suranaree Task Force detected a Cambodian unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) intruding into Thai airspace near Ta Muen Thom Temple. Subsequently, six armed Cambodian soldiers were seen approaching the barbed wire fence. Thai forces attempted negotiations to prevent engagement.

 

8:20 AM: Cambodian forces opened fire with small arms on a Thai operational base near Ta Muen Thom Temple, injuring 2 Thai soldiers.

 

9:30 AM: Cambodian forces fired a BM-21 rocket from Khao Laem, impacting Ban Khuen Lek in Buriram province, injuring 1 civilian. A rocket warhead was also found in a residential area of Phanom Dong Rak district, Surin province, resulting in 1 civilian fatality.

 

9:45 AM: More BM-21 rockets were fired into the Border Area Development Center in Kab Choeng district, Surin province.

 

10:00–10:22 AM: BM-21 rockets were detected impacting Moo Pa Base, Padung Base, and Hill 500 in Ubon Ratchathani province. Artillery shells also struck Pha Mor E Daeng, Chuk Ta, and nearby military bases, injuring 7 Thai soldiers.

 

10:28–10:40 AM: Continuous attacks were reported from the Cambodian side, with BM-21 multiple rocket launchers targeting Maria Base and Ban Phon Thong, Dom Pradit sub-district, Nam Yuen district, Ubon Ratchathani province, damaging 1 civilian home.

 

10:48–11:00 AM: Three BM-21 rockets landed in the vicinity of Moo Pa Base and a PTT gas station in Ban Phue, Kantharalak district, Sisaket province, causing damage to private businesses. 9 civilians were killed and 14 injured.

 

11:02 AM–12:21 PM: Heavy weapon clashes and shelling continued in the border areas of Buriram, Surin, and Ubon Ratchathani provinces, with some projectiles landing in residential areas and civilian homes.

The Royal Thai Armed Forces stated that Cambodia’s actions in attacking civilian areas constitute a violation of international humanitarian law, which dictates that military attacks must only target military objectives.

 

The Royal Thai Armed Forces strongly urges Cambodia to cease these actions that violate humanitarian principles and reaffirms that Thailand adheres to the rule of law and the values of universal humanitarianism, while maintaining its resolute commitment to defending national sovereignty.
